Emotion Code vs Body Code vs Belief Code

People come to me having heard one of these modalities somewhere, maybe a friend mentioned Emotion Code, or they read something about the Body Code, or Belief Code or it came up in a podcast. What they usually want to know first is whether these are three different things or three names for the same thing.

The honest answer is somewhere in between. Once you see how they fit together the approach makes a lot more sense.

What These Actually Are

All three energy codes were developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson, and start with the same core thread: everything is energy, everything has a frequency, everything has a vibration. Each code  is a way of using that idea to communicate with the subconscious mind, which holds everything that has ever happened to us, and which is communicating with us constantly through our symptoms and through anything that feels out of alignment, whether or not we are listening.

Throughout a session, we ask questions through muscle testing. The code that we are using guides the question. The codes are lists of what possibilities it could be. During a session, we go through the possibilities and find the imbalances to the purpose of our session. The list holds the options, and the body, emotion or belief system guides the answers. I walked through exactly how that looks, step by step, in What Happens in a Body Code Session. You can check out that article for an example of what a full session looks like.

What I want to do in this piece is talk about when and why we choose between the Body Code, Emotion Code and Belief Code.

The short reason is that anything can cause anything, and we don't always know completely what it is. For example, if you have a pain in the body and you cannot tell whether it is the pain causing the emotion or the emotion causing the pain. The three codes are built to look in a broader array of causes such as in what we feel, how the body is holding the feeling, and what we believe that may be causing the said pain. The cool thing is that our subconscious knows which one it is even when you consciously may not.

How the Three Codes Fit Together

Here is the part I wish more people understood. It is the difference between seeing three products and seeing one thing with three depths.

Emotion Code is the narrowest of the three. It works with trapped emotions. When something overwhelming happens, or when the normal process of feeling something and letting it go gets interrupted, that emotion can get stuck. We always think the trapped emotion is like the size of a fist. It lodges somewhere in the body, and over time that organ or that gland or that muscle group starts to vibrate and create this imbalance. And then, because like attracts like here, if you have an angry organ or a gland or a system, it may attract more of that energy, because that is what it resonates with. A person may come to me presenting as a pain in that gland, or the system not working properly. An emotion code session would get to the root cause of the resonance pointing to that anger that may be held in that area of the body.

Body Code is the wider system. It organizes its possibilities into six primary categories  of energetic and emotional imbalances, circuits and systems, structural misalignments, nutritional and lifestyle habits, pathogens, and toxins. Because trapped emotions are one of those six, the Emotion Code actually sits inside of Body Code. So Body Code reaches everything the Emotion Code reaches, and then everything else that could be sitting underneath a symptom as well.

Belief Code goes underneath both, and honestly, it is usually where I usually go first. It's the circuitry. If the circuitry is off, then the emotions are going to be off, and then the body is going to be off. It all comes back to identity creating a reality you then live inside.

The way I explain Belief Code to people is with a tree.

The negative programs are the leaves and the branches. Those are the surface thoughts, the things you catch yourself saying. A little deeper, the limiting beliefs are the trunk. Deeper still, the faulty core beliefs are the roots which are usually from childhood, defense mechanisms, things we created just to survive. And then from the roots we go even deeper, to the soil, and how the tree actually got planted and seeded. That is known as a faulty core identity.

What we do in a Belief Code session is work the whole tree. We go through all the trapped emotions related to those beliefs. In a session, there might be five at each tier, all connected to one big belief holding the structure in place. We release those, then the associated energetic imbalances related to them, then the statements themselves are released energetically.Through the use of the Belief code we are draining the battery completely. So that it t has no more life force left for it to continue to create this anymore.

And then we conclude by replacing it with a positive or coherent belief to assist in moving forward.

So: Belief Code is the circuitry, Emotion Code is the emotions that got caught in it, and Body Code is how all of it settled into the body. In a full session they are not really separate. We incorporate the belief that got stuck, and that incorporates the emotions, and that incorporates how it landed physically, and then we release the whole circuitry.

Who This Tends to Help

Most people who come to me come in with something physical. It is usually something they have been trying to deal with that does not seem to be getting resolved, often after going through the medical system, but sometimes alongside it as a complement to what their doctor is already doing.

The pattern I see most often is the one where the body has been signaling for a long time and nobody has been able to say why. It's almost like your car, and the engine light is starting to flash, or the gauges are starting to go off. I always advise to pay attention: why are you getting that warning light? Inflammation, pain, tension that will not release. Those are the body's awareness saying hey, something's wrong.

The second pattern is the thing that keeps coming back. You heal it and it slips, and then it creates all this other stuff, so it's never fully healed. The name for this is recovery interference. It's why people re-injure stuff in the same way, over and over, for years.

Then there are the people who have already done a great deal of talk therapy and are still looking for answers. I say this as someone who has been a licensed professional counselor for over twenty years and who believes deeply in this work: sometimes people arrive having understood their own history completely, in detail, for years, and the understanding has not moved anything. The work with Emotion Code, Body Code, Belief Code approaches from a different direction. It's so gentle. You don't have to talk about your trauma. You don't even have to tell me what happened if you don't want to. It would just do what it needs to do- naturally to heal by following the flow of questions to the root cause.

Finally I see another type of person who is carrying what we call heart walls (how the heart carries all these emotions). So many of us have a protective coat or layering around our hearts because we've gotten hurt so many times. It is a defense mechanism to keep us from further hurt; however, it doesn’t then keep us open to experience what we may be looking for in regards to happiness, connection, and belonging.

I will also say this to parents specifically, because it matters to a lot of people once they hear it: when you clear your field, you're clearing your ancestral lineage. You're clearing anything in the future, your current life, and possibly your children before they even come. And because all of this works by proxy, it is a gentle approach that can also work for children, and animals like pets, who may not have the words to tell us what is wrong.

Who This Isn't For

I think it is worth being just as clear about this, because I would so much rather you know it going in.

This is not a replacement for medical treatment. This energy healing modality is not meant to replace any medical treatment but through correcting the underlying imbalances, we can help the body's innate self-healing ability to take over. If you have a symptom you have not had looked at, please go have it looked at. I work alongside medical care very happily. I do not work as a replacement for medical care.

We don't say we cure anything. If what you want is someone to promise you an outcome, I am not going to be able to do that, and I would be suspicious of anyone who does.

If you are looking for one dramatic session that fixes everything, that is not usually how this goes. Some people are able to come in once and others need to come in several times. It depends on what is going on with them individually.  The work with your subconscious is the guide and will let us know when you are ready to be completed with the session as well. Our bodies and brains know when it has done enough for the session at hand and I trust that completely rather than pushing through it.
And it is not passive. The release is gentle and it does not require anything of you in the moment. But what happens afterward does. That is the reason that you are given positive replacement statements to get you started in the right direction.

What a Session Actually Looks Like

We start with a focus, not a diagnosis. This would be whatever that feels stuck or is a pattern that you would like to work on. From there we start muscle testing with the codes and follow whatever comes with the next question. We go one layer underneath another, until we reach the bottom and release from there.  You don't have to talk through anything, and you don't experience anything difficult; it's so gentle, all you have to do is show up and be open to the healing. Even if you are a skeptic, energy healing work is still beneficial.

I wrote out one real session, start to finish, with the permission of the woman who received it, in What Happens in a Body Code Session

Can This Be Done Remotely?

Yes, and I want to be direct about it because it surprises people. This is all done via proxy — I am muscle testing and releasing on myself, but it's you — so you can be across the room or across the country. Where you live is not really a factor in whether we can work together.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

I genuinely do not know until we start, and I would not trust an answer given before then.

Some people come once and that is enough for what they came for. Some people come fifteen times. It depends on what you are carrying physically, mentally, emotionally, and on how much your system wants to do at a time.

What I will say is that less is more here, more often than people expect. I have had clients feel wonderful after a session and want to come back three days later, and my instinct is usually let's just see what happens, and how you process this. Flooding the nervous system is its own problem. We have to listen to the body and what it wants and needs from us.

I would also say that this does not have to be an event. I go through my whole system every single day– no really, I seriously do this every day. Once you learn even basic muscle testing you can ask your own body,  simple questions, and that is genuinely the direction I want people to go. We've become such a society that we don't empower ourselves. We're always looking for somebody external outside of us to figure it out, fix it for us, and this type of knowledge can be used by all of us.

Honestly, I'd love to put myself out of business if everyone could learn this and help in support their own healing.  Until then, if you are looking for help with moving whatever you are experiencing and are interested in a Body Code, Emotion Code, Belief Code session, book with me here.
